One of the most innovative online businessmen is Avinash Samudrala. He has found a way to take a very personal employee, a personal assistant, and outsource it over the Internet. This innovative vision is part of what has made him so successful in life.
Samudrala attended and graduated from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University—a prestigious school that is often called one of the Southern Ivy League schools. After graduating from that respected institution he got a job as an associate at AEA Investors, a private equity firm. AskSunday was an idea that Sumadrala and a friend had in November of 2006. Samudrala, whose parents hail from India, had seen how productive Indians could be at jobs that they were paid less for. This was a mutually beneficial deal in which Indians got paid more than they would otherwise and American entrepreneurs and companies got to pay less for labor and still get similar output. Sumadrala had a couple of discussions with friends and relatives about outsourcing and found that the idea might be applicable to personal assistance. The industry of personal assistants used to be open only to those with money or prestige—CEOs, lawmakers, and high powered attorneys. AskSunday has eradicated that idea and replaced it with creativity, low monthly fees, and an accessible labor market for personal assistants.
